More People Read News Via Internet Than Newspaper
This is the hardest time for newspaper industry. Based on a survey that held by a research institution from United States, Pew Research Center, many more people in United States read news online rather than newspapers.
For the first time, Internet has won this survey. Reported that 40 percent consumers use web as a primary news source, increasing from 24 percent from survey result a years ago. While newspapers, only 35 percent of consumers.
The television still in the first ranks as the main source of information. Television is used by 70 percent of respondents, decreasing from a previous year’s 74 percent.
The teenagers seem to be a significant contributor for Internet popularity. 59 percent of young people under the age of 29 years choose the Internet as a source of news. Meanwhile, only 28 percent who use newspaper media.
The results of this latest survey seems to be the next wallop for the newspaper industry. Previously, the company’s newspapers in United States should continue to tighten their belt when the economic situation become worsen, for example, by conducting massive retrenchment.
