Widgets and accessories on blog page definitely will make your blog looks cuter. But there are some of them should be avoid displaying on blog to optimize the blog especially for business or company blog. In this short article I will share my opinion about what accessories you shouldn’t add on your blog page, so that your blog looks like more professional.

1. Avoid adding clock on your blog. Ask yourself, what is the useful for users if it only for time reminder or for additional thing. You better to not use it. 99,99% users has their own clock on their computer’s Windows taskbar. The flash clock will only slowing down your page load and give an unprofessional impression for visitor.
2. Avoid adding song on your blog. It will cause the page load heavier and of course it will give unprofessional message. No problem if your blog is about music, but if your blog is about business, it’s seems childish to add song clip on your blog.
3. Avoid adding calendar. There is a calendar on Windows already, so you don’t need to add one on your blog. People visit your blog to get informations, not to see calendar (except your blog is about calendar or something related to it). Calendar here means the general calendar, not the calendar that shows posts (usually used on Wordpress).
4. Avoid adding amount of visitor (counter), especially if your blog is new one. It will cause a bad judgment to your blog. Even there is some counter services that provide facility to able you to manipulate and adding visitor amount manually, think that a new blog has reached 100.000 visitors is almost impossible. And you don’t want your visitor leaves your blog just because they think you’re a liar, aren’t you?
5. Avoid displaying visitor IP status. Your blog is not a spy, isn’t it? So you don’t need to add it on your blog, it is about user’s privacy and of course you don’t want your visitor feel like spied on. Visitor wouldn’t think you’re a computer expert just because that thing.
6. Don’t add scattered ads. You may say, more ads, more profit. But what if your blog is nothing but ads? You should limit your ads and know that users do not like excessive ads especially if the ads amounts are more than your blog main contents.
7. Avoid displaying big image. Big image will slow the page load. Compressed image or the smaller one will be better to optimize your blog load.
8. Do not ask users to click on ads. Avoid words like “click ads below” or any words that ask visitor to click ads. I found some blog did this. Ask yourself, nobody like to be ordered to, and users will certainly click ads without ordered if they think the ads are useful for them.
9. Do not too much post or quote other blogs article. This will make you gain bad response from the reader, because the reader will think they better read on the original source directly.
10. The last is only to make clear: Avoid adding any unnecessary widgets to your blog. Adding a new widget is fun, but if the widgets do not have a connection to your blog, or not useful enough, your blog will seen freak. Just add widget that really needed for visitor.
